Are you a Cool Girl Tory™? A Connecticut Prep Tory™? A blend of both who also plays intramural soccer? Stop searching, I’ve got you!

I’m Emily Stochl and this is Pre-Loved 🎤 an indie media platform finding you fab vintage to recreate your fave looks, secondhand.

The Tory Burch fall/winter runway show at NYFW stole the spotlight — or, at least, it stole the screenshot folder. Never over-the-top, but wearable in a fun, put-it-on-the-moodboard kind of way; when I teased we’d be vintage shopping inspired by this collection, you got as excited as me, because you get it.

Famous for the Reva flat that put her on the map in 2006 — it sold 300,000 pairs in the first two years — Tory Burch’s spark had dwindled since, becoming a brand relegated to country club Moms who winter in Palm Beach.

But, singular in shopper, she is no more!

In 2023, the attitude markedly shifted, and fashion media proclaimed a “Toryssiance” was upon us, with the RealReal telling Coveteur there was a 43% increase in search that’s only been up since.

Tory herself grew up horseback riding, she went to an Ivy League school, and then moved to NYC to work public relations for Ralph Lauren. Her brand has always had a Connecticut prep air about it, but in this new era she’s here to remind you she’s also a Cool Girl™ — Ella Emhoff, Maude Apatow and Lola Tung sit front-row at her shows now. Models like Paloma Elsesser, Alex Cosani, and Alexa Chung strut — yes, the cigarette-smoking, ripped-tights-wearing, muddy-boots-at-Glastonbury, Chung of our youth is now a fresh, fun 40-years-old Tory Burch girl; and, it felt perfect.

Burch is also a boss, running her own label for twenty years, she knows how to make clothes the American woman wants to wear to work; designing for women who command — indeed, she told Harpers Bazaar the brooches worn this season were inspired by old photos of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

The Tory Burch girl is downtown and well-read, she’s visiting museums and sketching for fun (this show was at the Museum of Modern Art); but she’s also sporty — though she’s traded her horseback riding for intramural soccer in Central Park.

And — most importantly of all! — she’s a vintage shopper. Those boucle coats, satchels, cashmeres and herringbone blazers — all pieces about which she might say, this old thing?! — these are finds you can see in a vintage shop. Maybe a well-kept secret spot, or, handed down by her cool Aunt, take your pick. But, you see it!

So, Pre-Loved readers, I’ve rounded-up 51 vintage pieces (~sizes XS-XXL) all under $150, for you today — subscribe for your curated collection of vintage that’s both trendy and timeless, and some pieces that I seriously contemplated keeping in my saves.
