🎤 Pre-Loved NOW! (Week of March 7th)

this week in vintage & secondhand fashion
3

Welcome to Pre-Loved Now! We chatted for 15-minutes about the latest in secondhand fashion news, and I showed you some vintage I’m loving lately.

Please consider supporting my work as an independent fashion journalist because:

I’m giving Pre-Loved a full-time go right now.

Unfortunately, due to the political environment, the labor rights work I’ve been doing alongside Pre-Loved for the last five years has come to an abrupt and unexpected end. While it’s sad and scary for many reasons — including because I really loved what I did! — I know it’s the right time for me to see what we could make of things here.

So, I’m going to give this my all during my severance and take a chance — with your incredible support!

I started Pre-Loved Podcast seven years ago with a hunch that vintage-loving people are the most interesting folks in the world. You have sure proved me right, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next.

This would not be possible without the backing of subscribers like you, so thank you for making this work sustainable.

✨This week in vintage & secondhand fashion: ✨

  • a Chicago-based thrifter found the Vera Wang wedding dress from the Sex and the City movie at a Goodwill for $18.99.

  • WRAP analyzed the displacement rates of Depop, eBay and Vestiaire Collective, and found for every 5 pre-loved items bought, 3 (or 65%) displace new a purchase. ♻️

  • Isaac Mizrahi is selling hundreds of his one-of-a-kind original archival samples from the years 1987-2012.

  • As the fashion industry braces for tariffs, ThredUp pre-released data from its 2025 Resale Report, indicating a shift to secondhand for more affordable options. 📈

This has been your Secondhand News digest for the week of March 7th!

Here's How I'd Spend Four Days in NYC

Greetings, from a girl who never got over New York. Like every kid who grew up a voracious reader, every young aspiring writer, I moved to New York when I was 20 years-old, first chance I could. This was — *wince* — fifteen-years ago now, so when you walk around New York with me today, you’ll sometimes (charmingly?) be treated to a tour of what “used to be here.”
